Cellulite Creams Don’t Work!
Cellulite reducing creams, a myth that may make you feel good
Cellulite is a favorite target for cosmetic companies. For a cosmetic company cellulite presents unique opportunities. Best Cellulite cream don’t work so customers will keep buying their products just in the hope of a solution or in the hope that using these products will keep the situation from getting worse. There is the added advantage that nobody enjoys telling others that they have a cellulite problem or that it is not getting better.
What is Cellulite Again?
Let us take a look at what cellulite is. Cellulite is a change in the skin contour that occurs mostly in women after puberty though it is not noticeable in very young girls. It makes the skin dimpled and uneven giving an orange peel look. It is more pronounced in the pelvic region, lower limbs and abdomen, and is caused by the accumulation of fat within the fibrous connective tissues under the skin.
Best Cellulite Cream & Skin Myths
The first myth is that cellulite is a substance under the skin. No, it is the description of the condition as we have just seen.
The second myth is that cellulite is an abnormal condition that needs treatment. Yes, for appearance and beauty reasons most women will prefer not to have cellulite, but medically it is not a condition that requires any treatment.
The third myth is that treatment with the best cellulite cream can reduce this problem. The fact is that the best cellulite cream don’t work. First for something to work it has to get absorbed into the skin to the place where the so called problem is. However the best cellulite cream available today simply don’t get to the area under the skin where they are supposed to act.
So They Are Ripping Us Off?
Most of it can be called ‘snake oil marketing’. It does no good but does no harm either except to the wallet of the person buying it. After a review of 27 years of medical literature by the Journal of Cosmetic and Laser Therapy, they could not come up with any scientific evidence that any cream or topical medication with real, measurable and lasting effect in reducing cellulite exists.
How Can You Be Sure?
Most women who claim to experience improvements are actually just feeling the placebo effect. This is a purely psychological feeling and not due to any real reduction of cellulite. This has been proved by tests where a group of women were given cellulite reducing creams and a control group was just given just an oil with no active ingredients. Both groups reported equal improvement! So any improvement that people feel is mostly in their mind not in their skin or appearance.
Why Don’t Companies Just Tell Us The Truth?
Cosmetic companies are aware about the truth of their products. They use clever advertising which usually avoids claiming any reduction in cellulite, but use terms such as ‘skin looks better’ or ‘skin feels better’ and build a false picture in the minds of the reader that the cellulite gets better. In some countries some of these advertisements have been pulled up by the authorities for deception.
Then What Really Works?
So what does work to improve cellulite? Cellulite creams don’t work, but natural remedies do. These remedies focus on improving the general health of the person not by topical creams but by lifestyle improvements such as proper diet, exercise, stress reduction and sound sleep. If somebody still feels the need to use cosmetics to reduce cellulite, rest assured, it can do no harm and the cosmetic companies will feel good!
